Rainbow Six Siege, Ubisoft's renowned tactical shooter, has undergone a significant transformation with the introduction of the Ranked 2.0 system in late 2022. This overhaul has not only revamped the ranking structure but also brought in changes to the matchmaking system, making the competitive experience more transparent and dynamic. In this guide, we will delve into the intricacies of Rainbow Six Siege ranks, the updated ranking system, and how players can navigate their way from Copper to the coveted Champion tier.

Rainbow Six Siege Ranks: A Comprehensive Overview

Following the Ranked 2.0 update, Rainbow Six Siege employs a ranking system consisting of eight distinct tiers, an increase from the previous seven, with the noteworthy addition of the Emerald tier. Within these tiers, seven ranks are intricately divided into five levels, except for the highest tier, Champion, which lacks distinct levels. The new ranking system is as follows:

  • Copper (V, IV, III, II, I)
  • Bronze (V, IV, III, II, I)
  • Silver (V, IV, III, II, I)
  • Gold (V, IV, III, II, I)
  • Platinum (V, IV, III, II, I)
  • Emerald (V, IV, III, II, I)
  • Diamond (V, IV, III, II, I)
  • Champion

Unveiling Rainbow Six Siege MMR and Skill Rating

With the advent of Ranked 2.0, Rainbow Six Siege MMR has undergone a transformation, now rebranded as Skill Rating. This hidden value persists from season to season, eliminating the need for placement matches. Skill Rating changes based on a player's win/loss rate against opponents with similar, higher, or lower Skill Rating values. While it doesn't directly influence rank, a higher Skill Rating can expedite rank progression, and vice versa.

To illustrate, Copper V stands as the lowest rank, encompassing players with point ranges from 1 to 100. On the contrary, Champion, the pinnacle of the ranking hierarchy, demands approximately 5000 points for players to attain this prestigious rank. Accumulating Rank Points is contingent upon winning games and successfully eliminating adversaries, facilitating upward progression on the ranking ladder.

The separation of MMR and ranks aims to provide a more nuanced understanding of a player's skill level and streamline the matchmaking process. Notably, the update allows unrestricted partying, thanks to an algorithm, enabling players to team up without being constrained by skill disparities.

Initiating Your Rank Journey and Climbing the Ladder

In the Ranked 2.0 system, every player begins their journey at Bronze V, progressing through the tiers and divisions as they accumulate Rank Points. While Skill Rating persists across seasons, a full rank reset occurs at the start of each season, requiring players to restart from Bronze. Although placement matches are no longer necessary, the initial games of a season serve as a balance mechanism, ensuring fair competition.

Ranking up in Rainbow Six Siege hinges on individual performance and consistency. Earning Rank Points in each game is influenced by Skill Rating and match outcomes. To ascend the ranks, players need to focus on playing well consistently, mitigating the impact of losses against superior opponents. The updated system is designed to be more forgiving, allowing players to progress even after challenging matches.

At the end of each season, players are rewarded with custom weapon charms and other cosmetics based on their highest placement. The rewards span all divisions up to the highest rank achieved that season. While the specifics of the reward system remain similar to the pre-update version, the seasonal theme introduces variations in charms. Thus providing a unique touch to each reward.

Mastering Siege Ranked: Tips for Swift Progression

When Can You Dive into Ranked?

Players can initiate their ranked journey upon reaching level 50. Before this milestone, engaging in quick matches or newcomer queues is essential for honing skills and understanding the game dynamics.

Navigating the Ranked Format

Ranked matches now follow a "first-to-four" rounds format, with a three-round overtime in case of a 3-3 tie. The introduction of map bans empowers players to influence the battleground, and operator bans allow for strategic elimination of potent adversaries.

Grasping the Division Structure

Under the Ranked 2.0 update, each rank is divided into five divisions, necessitating 100 Rank Points to progress to the next. The addition of the Emerald rank between Platinum and Diamond introduces a new tier for players to aspire to.

Accelerating Rank Gain: Strategies for Success

  • Play Meta Operators: Opt for operators that align with the current meta, ensuring you contribute effectively to your team's success.
  • Review Gameplay: Leverage the match replay feature to analyze your gameplay, understand mistakes, and grasp enemy strategies.
  • Play with Friends: Building synergy with regular teammates enhances coordination, providing a strategic advantage.
  • Focus on Winning: Prioritize team-oriented gameplay over individual achievements, as winning is the primary factor influencing MMR.

Embrace the Challenge of Siege Ranked

Rainbow Six Siege's Ranked 2.0 has ushered in a new era of competitive play. Thus offering players a refined ranking system and rewarding progression. Whether you're a seasoned veteran or a newcomer, understanding the nuances of the updated ranks and the associated Skill Rating system is key to navigating the challenges of Siege's ranked mode. As you embark on your journey from Copper to Champion, remember that every match contributes to your growth and skill development in this thrilling tactical shooter.
