New Overwatch Patch Nerfs Vendetta and Jetpack Cat, Tweaks Other New Heroes

New Overwatch Patch Nerfs Vendetta and Jetpack Cat, Tweaks Other New Heroes

Following the arrival of five new heroes in Season 1, Overwatch has rolled out a new patch aimed at fine-tuning its latest additions. The February 24 update introduces nerfs and buffs to Vendetta and the five newest heroes, adjusting their performance to better balance the meta. Below, we break down all the changes included in this update.

Domina, Vendetta, and Jettpack Cat Receive Nerfs

Since her arrival, the new Tank hero Domina has been taking over matches and drawing concern from players over multiple aspects of her kit. In response, Blizzard has introduced a change: Domina's ultimate, Panopticon, will now cost 12% more to charge. While this adjustment does little to address the concerns surrounding her shield, it slightly reduces her overall lethality. Whether this change will be enough to balance her remains to be seen in the coming days.

Vendetta has also been a menace so far in Season 1. Her ability to dive into the action, secure eliminations, and escape nearly unscathed made her one of the strongest, if not the strongest, DPS heroes in the current meta. The latest OW patch addresses her dominance with a small but meaningful nerf: Vendetta's primary weapon's overhead swing now deals 120 HP of damage, down from 130 HP.

On the Support side, Jetpack Cat has been the most talked-about addition this season, drawing attention for a variety of reasons. Fika's ability to carry both teammates and opponents has opened up a wealth of new playmaking opportunities, making the game significantly more dynamic. While Blizzard left her signature tether ability untouched, the latest patch introduces nerfs to several of her perks.

Jetpack Cat's Claws Out Minor Perk, which empowered her claws every six seconds for increased melee damage, has seen its cooldown increased from six to eight seconds in the February 24 update. Her Territorial Major Perk has also been adjusted. Previously, the perk allowed her to deal 50% of her Purr ability's healing as damage to enemies, at the cost of removing its knockback effect. That damage conversion has now been reduced to 33%.

Mizuki, Emre, and Anran Buffed in February 24 Patch

Mizuki has been a fan favorite since his arrival, thanks largely to his stylish design and flashy kit. However, one recurring point of concern has been his ultimate ability. While Kekkai Sanctuary could effectively block enemy projectiles and provide massive healing to teammates, it lasted only six seconds, limiting its impact. Blizzard has addressed this in the latest patch, increasing the ultimate's duration from six to seven seconds. This is a small but meaningful buff that gives Mizuki players a bit more room to swing a team fight.

Emre's kit offers a refreshingly aggressive playstyle, allowing him to run-and-gun and take down opponents by combining his burst rifle with well-placed grenades. His mechanics might feel familiar to Soldier: 76 players, making him relatively easy to pick up. Despite his potential, Emre has struggled to make an impact since joining the roster on February 10. To address this, Blizzard has given him a damage buff. Emre's primary fire now deals 22 HP per shot (66 HP/burst), up from 20 HP/shot. This should help him compete more effectively.

Anran is the final hero to receive adjustments in the Overwatch February 24 patch. Although she has already received two sets of changes since her playtest, Blizzard has introduced two more updates aimed at buffing her kit. Inferno Rush's cooldown has been reduced from 8.5 to 8 seconds, and Dancing Blaze's movement range has been increased from 1.5 to 2.25 meters. These tweaks should give Anran a bit more flexibility and uptime in fights.
