Biography of Lesion

Liu Tze Long, codenamed Lesion, was born in Junk Bay, Hong Kong. Raised by his father, he grew up working in the ship breaking industry. From a young age, he was exposed to dangerous materials, shaping his respect for toxins and their effects.

At ten, he fell into an oil tank while scavenging, ingesting toxic water. This near-death experience scarred him but built remarkable resilience. When his father was injured, Lesion supported them by taking demolition jobs and later volunteering for mine clearing duties in Yunnan and Guangxi.

His bravery and skill led to recruitment into the Hong Kong Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal Bureau. From there, he joined the Special Duties Unit (SDU), focusing on Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) threats. His first major mission, Operation Green Viper, brought him together with Thatcher and Smoke, cementing his reputation.

By 2017, Lesion officially joined Rainbow, becoming a vital part of its CBRN Threat Unit. He has since played key roles in global operations, including Operation Amber Sky in 2025, where he coordinated efforts to stop the production of a deadly nerve agent.

Psychological Profile

Lesion’s childhood in hazardous environments gave him unusual endurance. His survival of toxin exposure as a child shaped both his physical and mental toughness. He was one of the few recruits able to complete the extended SAS Resistance to Interrogation Program.

He is described as calm, thoughtful, and witty. While intense in operations, he is quiet and soft-spoken off duty. Colleagues respect his steady focus, even if he often stays in the background. Lesion values simplicity, shaped by a childhood of poverty, and continues to volunteer in mine clearing efforts.

His optimism and grounded nature set him apart. He sees his difficult past as a source of strength rather than a burden, and he remains closely tied to his roots in Junk Bay.

Gameplay Description

lesion-rainbow-six-siege

Lesion is a Medium Armored Defender equipped with Gu Mines. These cloaked mines inject a toxin into attackers, causing periodic damage and preventing sprinting until the needle is removed.

Lesion starts with one mine and gains another every 25 seconds until he reaches a maximum of nine. Gu Mines can be placed on floors, desks, windowsills, or other surfaces, and they deal 3 initial damage followed by 12 damage every two seconds until removed. Removing the needle takes time, forcing attackers to expose themselves and leaving them vulnerable. Because the mines remain hidden until triggered, they are effective for slowing pushes and gathering intel.

In Year 8 Season 3, Gu Mines were reclassified as mechanical gadgets, making them immune to detection from IQ and unhackable by Brava.

Strategies and Tips

Lesion is strongest in delaying attackers and forcing mistakes. His Gu Mines punish aggressive plays and disrupt coordinated pushes. Players using Lesion should focus on spreading their mines across choke points, entry routes, and planting areas.

Gu Mines can be retrieved if not yet triggered, which gives Lesion flexibility in adjusting to changes during a round. Attackers who are poisoned cannot sprint, making it easier for defenders to rotate or hold positions. In bomb modes, poisoned attackers cannot plant until they remove the needle, giving defenders critical time.

Effective Placements

Doorways and windows are ideal spots, as attackers rushing into objectives often trigger hidden mines. Stairs are another strong location, since they are common rotation points where attackers must slow down. Bomb sites benefit from mines placed near planting zones, forcing attackers to choose between taking damage or exposing themselves while removing the toxin.

Attacker Counters

Gu Mines can still be destroyed with explosives or gunfire. Operators like Twitch, Zero, Flores, and Kali all have gadgets that can eliminate them before they become a problem. Awareness and methodical clearing of rooms reduce the threat they pose.

Synergies with Other Operators

Lesion pairs naturally with trap-oriented Defenders. Kapkan’s EDDs combine well with Gu Mines, creating layers of disruption and damage. Ela’s concussion mines add another level of control, allowing attackers to be both disoriented and poisoned at once. Melusi’s Banshees further slow down poisoned enemies, while Fenrir and Thorn extend the time attackers are exposed to traps.

Lesion also works well with Goyo and Tachanka, as his mines force attackers to remain in dangerous zones filled with fire or explosives. Caveira benefits from his mines too, since slowed and damaged attackers are easier for her to interrogate.

Loadout

  • Primary weapons: SIX12 SD shotgun, T-5 SMG

  • Secondary weapon: Q-929 handgun

  • Gadget options: Observation Blocker or Bulletproof Camera

  • Unique gadget: Gu Mines (up to nine)

The T-5 SMG is often the preferred choice for its reliability in close-range defense.

Trivia and Interesting Details

Lesion continues to live near Junk Bay in public housing, maintaining his connection to the place where he grew up. In his spare time, he still volunteers in mine clearing, similar to Operator Aruni. His codename has multiple Chinese translations, appearing as both “Damage” (傷害) and “Mine” (雷) in different official sources.

The Gu Mine itself is inspired by punji sticks used during the Vietnam War, which were coated with toxins to slow enemy troops. Lesion’s elite uniform includes “專利原型 233,” a reference to Chinese internet slang for laughter, and his elite nickname is “鴿仔,” meaning pigeon-let.

Takeaway

Lesion is more than a trap Operator—his design reflects his personal story of resilience, survival, and expertise in hazardous environments. In gameplay, he slows attackers, denies plants, and creates constant pressure. For players who value patience and tactical disruption, Lesion remains one of the most reliable defenders in Rainbow Six Siege.
