The 2026 League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) 2026 Season Playoffs are here, and the road to the World Championship (Worlds) has never looked more brutal. The best organizations will now fight for a coveted spot at the biggest tournament of the year.
Gen.G and Hanwha Life Esports emerge as the leading contenders for the title, but before the favorites can set their sights on the prize, some teams must first survive the Play-Ins. Let's take a closer look at each stage and break down the most likely winner of every matchup.
The Play-Ins Survivors
Before heading to the Playoffs stage, there are still two contenders to be decided in the Play-Ins stage, which kicks off on Wednesday, August 26. Only two teams will advance to the next stage, but with two clear favorites in the field, it's hard to look past them.
Despite HANJIN BRION's (BRO) recent strong performances, beating the Worlds 2025 runner-ups will be a tough task. However, the recent changes to KT Rolster's bot lane could give BRO an opening to capitalize on a team that is still adapting to its new formation.
On the other side of the bracket, Nongshim RedForce boasts one of the most stacked lineups, combining an incredibly high ceiling with plenty of experience and individual skill. Nevertheless, BNK FEARX are capable of winning the series if they can find a way to exploit their weaknesses.
KT Rolster and Nongshim RedForce are the most likely teams to advance to the Playoffs.
Playoffs Biggest Threats
The LCK 2026 Season Playoffs bracket officially kickes off Saturday, August 29, and it's time to take a look at the favorites.
Two games away from the LCK 2026 Season Finals and sitting first in the Legend Group, Gen.G is undeniably one of the biggest threats of the tournament.
Despite a rough start, the team bounced back and is, once again, playing some of the best League of Legends we've come to expect from them.
Especially on the domestic stage, Gen.G has proven to be a force of nature. Their individual talent and stable roster structure, combined with their ability to patiently wait for opponents to make mistakes and then suffocate them, make them one of the most dangerous teams in the league.
However, Hanwha Life Esports are not far behind. After a convincing victory over T1, the MSI 2026 champions have consolidated their position in second place in the group, putting themselves one step closer to the title.
Their confidence and desire to continue their successful run could prove to be powerful weapons, especially in a meta that heavily favors both the top and mid lanes.
Both Gen.G and HLE are still waiting to find out who they will face in the Playoffs, but they remain the biggest threats and strongest contenders for the LCK 2026 title.
Why is T1 so Dangerous?
When a spot at LoL Worlds is on the horizon, few teams are as dangerous and intimidating as T1. With their international legacy at stake, the team carries an almost “moral obligation” to qualify for the most important event of the competitive season. That sense of urgency could make them especially dangerous at this stage.
However, they have faced internal complications over the past few weeks, including a temporary change in the jungle position. This difficult period for the team could prove challenging for their morale and confidence.
The Dark Horse
Dplus KIA have been on a strong run in the final weeks and have been one of the few teams capable of consistently challenging Gen.G and T1.
They bring a unique brand of aggression that makes them one of the most entertaining teams to watch, but they are also known for their inconsistency and their struggles to translate that momentum into their most important matches.
If they find their best form, their chaotic teamfighting and ability to snowball leads can make them one of the most difficult opponents in the region.
Who Will Win the LCK 2026 Season Playoffs?
Considering the Play-In teams most likely to advance to the Playoffs, the already qualified teams would find themselves in favorable positions, as they would have a higher chance of winning those matchups.
In a direct matchup between HLE and Gen.G, we can expect a spectacular showcase of League of Legends, with Gen.G having a strong chance of claiming the title.
As the MSI 2026 champions, HLE are guaranteed a Worlds spot just by qualifying for the LCK Playoffs. If they finish in the top three, they qualify through their domestic placement, while the additional Worlds slot goes to the highest-ranked eligible team that has not yet qualified, potentially DK.
