Jalal El Fassi, known as Kaid, is a defending operator in Rainbow Six Siege. He was introduced in Operation Wind Bastion alongside Nomad. His callsign, Kaid (قائد), means “Commander” in Arabic. The name reflects his real-life role at the Fortress—an elite training ground for Moroccan Special Forces in the Atlas Mountains.

Raised on stories of the Fortress, El Fassi joined the Royal Moroccan Gendarmerie (GIGR) at 18. His skill in leading counterterrorism operations earned him the rank of Captain. Eventually, he was selected to lead the Fortress itself, continuing a legacy built over generations.

Personality and Role

Kaid is serious, calm, and committed. He maintains a strict presence, earning respect without needing to speak much. As head of the Fortress, he turned it into one of the most respected military training facilities in the region. He has few close relationships, preferring solitude and control over emotional openness.

Joining Rainbow was not a quick decision. Years of negotiation led him to accept an offer that would improve the Fortress’s international profile. As part of Rainbow, Kaid now works among equals for the first time.

The Electroclaw: Kaid’s Unique Gadget

kaid-in-rainbow-six-siege

Kaid’s gadget is the "Rtila" Electroclaw, a compact device named after the Moroccan word for spider. He carries two Electroclaws per round.

When thrown onto a surface, an Electroclaw takes four seconds to activate. Once charged, it electrifies all metal objects within a 1.4-meter radius. This includes:

  • Reinforced walls and hatches

  • Barbed wire

  • Deployable shields

The charge can pass through walls and floors, letting Kaid hide the gadget out of sight. Compared to Bandit's car batteries, Electroclaws are easier to conceal and cover more area. However, they cannot activate instantly, which can limit reactive plays.

How Electricity Works Now

As of Year 10 Season 2, electrified gadgets no longer deal damage. Instead, they slow down movement when interacted with. This change affects both teams, including defenders. Electricity also destroys nearby electronic gadgets—friendly or not.

Synergies with Other Operators

kaid-in-rainbow-six-siege

Kaid works well with defenders who benefit from electrified surfaces or contribute to hard breach denial. Bandit and Kaid can lock down a reinforced room together, increasing the odds of delaying a successful breach. Mute’s jammers create interference, and when paired with Kaid’s electricity, attacking gadgets are often rendered useless. Mira’s Black Mirrors placed on electrified walls gain extra protection, making it harder for attackers to push through.

Mozzie’s hijacked drones remain unaffected by the electricity, allowing them to move through electrified areas safely. Echo’s Yokai drones also work just as effectively with Kaid as with Bandit, passing through electrified wire or walls. Frost traps are even more dangerous when placed in electrified barbed wire, punishing unsuspecting attackers who get caught.

Kaid’s Counters

Like other electronic gadgets, Electroclaws can be disabled or destroyed with the right tools. Thatcher’s EMP grenades disable them for ten seconds, giving attackers a window to breach. Twitch can destroy them with her drone, but risks losing the drone if it touches anything electrified. IQ can scan and detect Kaid’s gadgets, making it easier for attackers to locate them. Kali’s lance can destroy them from the other side of a reinforced wall. Flores and Zero can also disable Electroclaws with their explosive drones or laser-firing cameras.

Because of the delay before Electroclaws activate, Kaid struggles to counter fast breaches. For example, if Thermite activates his charge before the Electroclaw powers up, it’s already too late.

Tips for Using Kaid

kaid-in-rainbow-six-siege

Kaid is most useful on maps with multiple reinforced hatches. He can deny access to these vertical entry points with a single Electroclaw if placed correctly. When playing site, place your Electroclaws behind reinforced walls, in floors, or above ceilings to hide them. This makes it harder for attackers to spot and destroy them.

Barbed wire electrified by Electroclaws slows and reveals enemy movement. Place it in common push routes or doorways. Wait before deploying Electroclaws if you suspect Thatcher or Twitch is active. Baiting their utility and then deploying can save your defense from an early breach.

Tactical Role on Defense

Kaid is a heavy armor operator best suited for anchoring on-site. He’s not meant to roam. His main job is to lock down reinforced walls and hatches, support other anchors, and delay attackers. If Kaid is eliminated early, your team may lose control of important structural entry points. This is especially dangerous on maps with vertical play, where attackers breach hatches from above.

He’s also good for stopping quick rushes through reinforced hatches, a common tactic in coordinated team pushes.

Character Details and Trivia

Kaid’s name means "commander" in Arabic, while his gadget’s name, "Rtila," means "spider." The spider reference comes from a Moroccan species that Kaid admires for its adaptability and strength. His traditional dagger, called a Koummya, is a cultural weapon of the Berber and Arabic people of Morocco.

He is one of the tallest operators in the game, standing at 6 feet 5 inches. Only a few others, like Oryx and Arkadi Novikov, are taller. A portrait of Kaid can be found in the Fortress map, a location based on his background and command post.

Final Thoughts

Kaid brings control and consistency to defense in Rainbow Six Siege. He’s reliable in locking down key areas and denying breach points. With smart placement and timing, his Electroclaws become one of the most important gadgets in a defender’s toolkit. Kaid doesn’t need to speak loudly or act fast. His strength lies in patience, control, and presence.
