One of the most prestigious and longest-running tournament circuits of all time, the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM), will be expanding to a new host city. Starting in 2026, Krakow will take the torch as the new Polish host of IEM, replacing Katowice.

Over 13 years, the prestigious IEM Katowice title saw countless champions rise and fall. Team Vitality’s 2025 victory in Katowice will be forever remembered as the final team to host the IEM trophy in the iconic Spodek Arena.

A New Chapter: IEM Krakow

With 13 years of unforgettable Counter-Strike moments, the Spodek Arena’s era will come to a close. Now, the TAURON Arena will host the Playoffs of the inaugural IEM Krakow, set for February 6th-8th. Cited as the natural evolution of the tournament, this new venue promises a “larger audience and a world-class in-arena experience that continues to push the boundaries of live esports production.”

The tournament itself will kick off on January 27th, featuring 24 of the world’s best Counter-Strike teams battling for a spot in the Playoffs. Only six will advance to compete for a massive $1,250,000 prize pool in the TAURON Arena.

Neo provided a ton of insight into the organization's participation at this year's edition of EWC in Paris. He expressed his desire for the org to perform to the highest standards, but also highlighted that rivalry is key to grow the ecosystem. Additionally, Neo gave strong opinions on the growth of mobile esports following last year's Vitality's takeover and merger with Indonesian side Bigetron, stressing the need for innovation and following ideas in the east, as much as the west.

The Esports World Cup 2026 (EWC) had its grand launch on July 8, commemorating the official start of the event with an opening press conference at the Hotel de Ville in the heart of Paris. With many speakers kicking off the event, like the CEO of the Esports World Cup Foundation, Ralf Reichert, Emmanuel Grégoire, the mayor of Paris, and others, taking center stage. Following an opening ceremony with multiple speakers, media were given the opportunity to chat with representatives of the Esports World Cup Foundation, game publishers, or even reps of prolific esports organizations such as Team Vitality. We managed to speak with Mike McCabe, the COO of the Esports World Cup Foundation.
