Many wondered if this mix of extreme experience and raw youth could actually work. The answer, as the scene is quickly finding out, is a resounding yes. They bypassed the typical growing pains and immediately established themselves as a competitive threat.

Putting in the hours

Since the start of the 2026 season, 100 Thieves hasn't been waiting around for tournament organizers to hand them direct invites to tier-one events. Instead, they are putting in the hours in lower-tier competitions to build their synergy from the ground up. We have seen them competing relentlessly in tournaments like DraculaN Season 5 and the Roman Imperium Cup V.

Their recent match history shows a team that is rapidly figuring out its identity. They picked up solid wins against teams like BESTIA and Eternal Fire, showing that they can handle different playstyles. In DraculaN Season 5, they navigated a tough bracket all the way to the Grand Final.

Even though they ultimately dropped the final series against Heroic, the level of Counter-Strike they displayed left everyone stunned. The veteran presence is stabilizing the team, with device locking down map control and rain finding his usual impact in opening duels. Meanwhile, the rookies are stepping up to the plate, with sirah specifically posting impressive numbers that show he belongs at this level.

Reality hits the heavy hitters

All of this hard work recently culminated in a massive milestone. The Valve Regional Standings (VRS) updated, and 100 Thieves officially climbed to the #31 position globally. This ranking leap is impressive on its own, but it carries extra weight because it means they officially surpassed both Team Liquid and BC.Game.

Overtaking a historic organization like Team Liquid is a great indicator of their progress, but the comparison with BC.Game is the real talking point of the community right now. 100 Thieves managed to assemble their current roster for roughly $400,000. They invested in scouting, identified young players with high ceilings, and paired them with veterans who could guide them.

A two-million-dollar reality check

Contrast that approach with BC.Game. The organization entered the scene with massive financial backing and completely opened their wallets, spending an estimated $2.5 million to build their roster. Bringing in massive names like Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev to play alongside the core of SAW sounded terrifying on paper. But reality hit hard for the crypto-backed organization.

Despite the multi-million dollar investment, BC.Game is struggling severely to find any sort of rhythm. Their matches often look disjointed, relying on individual players to pull off miraculous plays rather than executing cohesive team strategies. They have very little to show for their massive spending spree.

Seeing a smartly constructed, $400,000 roster like 100 Thieves seamlessly pass them in the official Valve rankings is a tough pill to swallow for the big spenders. It just proves that you can't buy team chemistry.

The journey is just getting started

For 100 Thieves, the #31 rank is a validation of their process, but it isn't the end goal. They proved they can dominate the tier-two circuit and hold their own against established names. The next step is translating this online success into offline results.

As the competitive calendar moves forward and the Major qualification cycle approaches, the pressure will increase. But with device and rain anchoring the mental side of the game, Ag1l, sirah, and poiii are in the perfect environment to develop.

The grind is paying off, and 100 Thieves is rapidly becoming a team that nobody wants to face in a bracket.
