G2 Esports Exit VALORANT Masters London Without a Single Win

Day two of VALORANT Masters London turned into a nightmare for VCT Americas top seed G2 Esports, as the tournament favorites were eliminated without securing a single series win. Coming into the event with high expectations, the Americas champions instead exit in 7th–8th place, marking one of their most disappointing international showings.

FUT Esports Seal G2’s Fate

G2 faced FUT Esports in the second elimination match of the day, shortly after EMEA’s top seed Team Heretics were sent packing. Unfortunately for G2, they were next in line to fall.

The series began on Ascent, FUT’s map pick, where the Turkish side came out firing. G2 found themselves overwhelmed early, trailing 9-3 at halftime. While they attempted a second-half recovery, FUT maintained firm control and closed the map convincingly at 13-6.

The second map offered a glimpse of resistance from G2. Starting strong on attack, they initially looked poised to level the series. However, FUT adapted well, narrowing the deficit to 7-5 by halftime.

The momentum continued to swing in the second half, with FUT mirroring G2’s earlier success on attack. Despite G2 reaching map point first, FUT forced overtime and held their nerve to close the series 15-13, completing the sweep and eliminating G2 from the tournament.

A Disappointing Repeat

Speaking after the match, head coach Josh “JoshRT” Lee pointed to several internal challenges.

“We learned and we grew… but some things broke within. Team chemistry was a little off, and three of us were sick back-to-back. There were also map pool issues we’re trying to fix.”

While the 7th–8th place finish mirrors G2’s previous results at Champions 2024 and 2025, this run stands out for the wrong reasons. Due to their direct playoff seeding, G2 leave London with just a single map win across their entire campaign.

With Masters London behind them, G2 now shift focus to the Esports World Cup and VCT Americas Stage 2, where they will aim to rebuild and reassert themselves as true international contenders.
