FURIA is expected to announce soon that Felipe “skullz” Medeiros will be moved to the bench (as originally reported by Game Arena and already confirmed by Dust2 Br), in a move that represents the second concrete step in the process of internationalizing the roster.

The decision comes after the signing of Kazakh player Danil “molodoy” Golubenko, who joined to replace Marcelo “chelo” Cespedes and has already marked the beginning of this new phase for the organization.

Internationalization, part 1: -chelo, +molodoy

The first move by FURIA towards internationalization happened with the departure of chelo and the arrival of molodoy. The young Kazakh joined to take on the AWPer role, allowing Gabriel FalleN Toledo to focus exclusively on tactical leadership. Molodoy’s arrival not only brought new international talent to the team, but also made English the main language of the lineup, an important milestone for adapting to the global scene and international communication.

The signing of molodoy was seen as a response to recent unsatisfactory results and the need to refresh the roster to compete on equal footing with the world's best teams. FalleN, one of the project’s leaders, highlighted the new addition’s development potential and FURIA’s ambition to establish itself as an international powerhouse.

Internationalization, part 2: -skullz, +YEKINDAR?

Less than a month after molodoy’s arrival, FURIA announced that skullz, signed in July 2024, was moved to the bench. Skullz had been playing the anchor role for the team, but management opted for another overhaul after below-expectation results in international tournaments, especially at the RMR.

With skullz’s departure, rumors quickly pointed to Mareks YEKINDAR Gaļinskis, currently benched at Team Liquid, as FURIA’s main target for the spot. YEKINDAR brings an aggressive style and experience with top-level teams, in addition to his fluency in English and leadership ability. If the transfer happens, it will be the second international signing in a row, consolidating the team’s internationalization strategy.

A new era for FURIA

FURIA’s ambitious changes - beginning with a revamped coaching staff that featured Lucid and innersh1ne, and continuing with the signings of molodoy and the anticipated arrival of YEKINDAR - signal a decisive shift toward internationalization. These moves are designed to inject energy and experience into the roster, positioning FURIA to better compete at the highest levels of Counter-Strike.

As the organization embraces this new era, it remains committed to its Brazilian foundation, ensuring that the team’s identity endures even as it adapts to the demands of the global stage. With this hybrid approach, FURIA aims to reclaim its spot among the world’s elite, blending international talent with its established core to drive future success.
