# FaZeUp: Atlanta Faze defeats LA thieves to lift the CDL Major II 2023 Trophy

At the MGM Music Hall at Fenway, Atlanta Faze faced the LA thieves for the CDL Major II Grand Finals. Hosted by the Boston Breach, The CDL Major II finals set the stage for the CDL Champions 2022 rematch. Both the teams had an insane run in the tournament, defeating the top seeds to reach the grand finals. LA thieves made a run through the lower bracket, defeating the top three seeds in the tournament to reach the grand finals.

CDL Major II Grand Finals Mode and Maps:

The Grand Finals of the CDL Major II featured the Atlanta Faze and LA Thieves taking on each other. The modes and maps for the Best-of-7 Grand finals of the Faze-Thieves brawl were as follows:

  • Hardpoint - Mercado
  • Search and Destroy - Hotel
  • A/B Control - Hotel
  • Hardpoint - Hotel
  • Search and Destroy - El Asilo
  • A/B Control - El Asilo
  • Search and Destroy - Mercado

CDL Major II Grand Finals Recap:

The Grand Finals started on Mercado, with Both Faze and Thieves ready to take the trophy.

Hardpoint - Mercado:

The Thieves started the first game by securing a strong lead on Hardpoint. Thieves were almost 35 points ahead of Atlanta Faze. Before Faze reached 10, Thieves had already reached 50 points. But Faze brought it back and secured a lead of thier own. The Atlanta Faze secured a solid lead reaching 245 while the Thieves were behind. But Thieves brought it back to win the first Hardpoint 250 - 246.

Search and Destroy - Hotel:

Faze secured an early lead for the S&D and was converted it into a strong finish. LA thieves tried bringing it back, but Faze held firm and converted the xv1s into clear wins to equalize the series 1-1.

A/B Control - Hotel:

Thieves secured the first round of Control. Faze immediately answered back to equalize the series. Faze follow up the game equalizer with a map point win. Thieves answer back with a round to equalize again. In the final round, Faze convert to go 2-1 up in the Bo7 Grand finals series.

Hardpoint - Hotel:

LA Thieves secure an early lead in the fourth game of the series. Faze tried thier best to come back, but Thieves maintained the lead and converted the lead into a decisive 250 - 180 victory. With the Hardpoint win, Thieves equalize the series 2-2, winning both the Hardpoints.

Search and Destroy - El Asilo:

Faze started the fifth game in the series with a round win. They secured the second round to go 2-0 up in the series. Thieves answered back with four of thier won to secure a lead. Faze once again won two in a row to equalize the series again. Thieves secure map point in the next round, but Faze brings it back, winning two rounds in a row to win the game 6-5. With the win, Faze secure a map point.

A/B Control - El Asilo:

The Faze completely dominated EL Asilo in the sixth game of the series. They completely overwhelmed the Thieves and won the game 3-0 to win the series 4-2. With the win, Faze lift the CDL Major II 2023 trophy.

Faze Simp was named the MVP of the tournament with an overall K/D of 1.08. Faze completed thier revenge on the LA thieves for the CDL Championship 2022 Loss.

With Atlanta Faze winning the Major II, there has a been a major shift in the CDL Regular Season points table. With 155 points, Atlanta Faze now lead the standings followed by New York Subliners and Toronto Ultra. The Major II runner-ups, LA Thieves take up the number 4 spot.
