Boston Breach's First Tango: Boston Breach hosted CDL Major II 2023 Preview

The CDL Major will be going to Boston in Call of Duty League History for the first time. Starting today at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway, twelve CDL teams will take on each other for 65 League points and a cash prize. The BOSTON Breach will host the $500k tournament, and over the weekend, we will crown the CDL Major II Champion. The tournament will be a double-elimination bracket 12-teams tournament.

CDL Major II Format:

The tournament will feature all twelve CDL teams. The teams played the qualifiers over the last three weeks to secure a top seed. The format will place the teams in a double-elimination bracket w.r.t their seeding position on the qualifier leaderboard. At the end of the qualifiers, which concluded last weekend, Optic Texas is the number 1 seed in the tournament.

With twelve teams playing, The bottom four seeds will start in the elimination round. The Winners Round will feature the top eight teams, with the first-seeded team taking on the eighth-seeded team, the second taking on the seventh, and so on. The tournament starts with Winners Round matches. The losers of the Winners Round opening matches will face the Lower seeds in an elimination round. All the matches are Bo5 except the Grand finals are Bo7. At the end of the double-elimination bracket Major, we will crown the CDL Major II Champion.

There will be five Hardpoint and Search and Destroy Maps and three Control Maps. The Map pool for CDL Major II is as follows:

The Box Office will open daily at 11:15 AM ET, with the Pro Competition starting at 1:20 PM ET. The complete fixture and schedule for the Pro Tournament are as follows:

Prize Pool, CDL points, and Winner Predictions:

The total prize pool of CDL Major II will be $500,000, with the winner getting a total of $200K. The prize money is for the top eight teams. The segregation for the Prize Money and CDL points as follows:

  • 1st Place - $200k | 65 points
  • 2nd Place - $120K | 50 points
  • 3rd Place - $80K | 40 Points
  • 4th Place - $40K | 30 Points
  • 5th Place (2) - $20K | 20 Points
  • 7th Place (2) - $10K | 10 Points

The frontrunners of the current competition are Optic Texas. Despite the recent departure of Scump, Optic looks as strong as ever and will be a contender for the tournament. Along with them, Toronto Ultra and New York Subliners look strong and have a chance to win it all.
