Qualifiers Recap: Boston Breach CDL Major II 2023 Qualifiers Recap

After the New York Subliners won the first CDL Major I over Seattle Surge, The second week of January started the qualifiers for the Call of Duty League 2023 Major II. The CDL Major II will be hosted by Boston breach at the MGM Music Hall. The CDL Major II will feature all 12 teams. The qualifiers for the qualifiers concluded last night. Let's recap the qualifiers throughout the weeks.

CDL Major II Qualifiers - Week 1 Recap:

The first week of the CDL Major II started with Toronto Ultra taking on the Lodan Royal ravens.

  • January 13th:
    • Toronto Ultra 3-0 London Royal Ravens
    • Boston Breach 3-0 Minnesota Rokkr
    • Las Vegas Legion 3-2 Seattle Surge
  • January 14th:
    • Florida Mutineers 3-2 Los Angele Guirellas
    • Minnesota Rokkr 3-2 London Royal Ravens
    • Atlanta Faze 3-0 Seattle Surge
    • Los Angeles Thieves 1 - 3 New York SubLiners
  • January 15th:
    • Toronto Ultra 3-1 Florida Mutineers
    • Optic Texas 3-2 Boston Breach
    • LA Guirellas 3-1 LA Thieves.

After the first week of CDL Action, Toronto Ultra led the standing tables leading 2-0, followed by Optic Texas with a 1-0 start. Going into the second week, LA Thieves were dead last with a 0-2 record. The week also saw Optic Texas legend Seth "Scump" Abner retire on January 17th.

Major II Qualifiers - Week 2 Recap:

The second week of qualifiers saw the clash of the top seeds in Toronto Ultra and Optic Texas. We also saw LA thieves getting a shot at Redemption.

  • January 20th:
    • New York Subliners 3 - 1 Florida Mutineers
    • Seattle Surge 2-3 Optic Texas
    • LA thieves 0-3 Toronto Ultra
  • January 21st:
    • Boston Breach 3-1 Las Vegas Legion
    • LA Thieves 3-0 London Royal Ravens
    • Toronto Ultra 1-3 Optic Texas
    • Atlanta Faze 0-3 Minesotta Rokkr
  • January 22nd:
    • Las Vegas Legion 1-3 London Royal Ravens
    • LA Guerrillas 3-1 Minesotta Rokkr
    • New York Subliners 2-3 Atlanta Faze

In a conclusive clash of titans, Optic Texas defeated Toronto Ultra to become the top team in the Qualifiers. The runner-ups of the last major, Seattle Surge, struggled this week to go 0-3.

Major II Qualifiers - Week 3 Recap:

The final week of CDL was the decider, with all the teams trying to clinch the number 1 spot. Optic was 3-0 up and had a chance to finish the qualifiers with a perfect record. Toronto Ultra had to win the last match to have a shot at the number one spot.

  • January 28th:
    • LA Guirellas 1-3 Toronto Ultra
    • Las Vegas Legion 3-1 Optic Texas
    • Boston Breach 3-1 Florida Mutineers
    • Seattle Surge 3-1 New York Subliners
  • January 29th:
    • Minnesota Rokkr 3-1 Seattle Surge
    • LA Thieves 3-2 Boston Breach
    • Optic Texas 3-2 Atlanta Faze

The last week had LA Thieves winning their second match to get to 2-3. The world champions had a rough year and somewhat continued in the Major II qualifiers. The Major I runner-ups finally secured a map point. Optic Texas and Toronto Ultra ended on a 4-1 scoreline, but Optic became the top seed after their Week 2 win over Ultra.

After three weeks of intense COD action, the standings for Major II were as follows:

Over the weekend, we'd watch the twelve teams take on each other in a double-elimination bracket Major II playoffs.
