The iconic 90s cartoon slackers, Beavis and Butt-Head, are officially coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone as playable operator skins, marking one of the franchise’s most unexpected and talked-about crossovers to date.

The Announcement and Release Timing

Activision announced that Beavis and Butt-Head will be added to both Black Ops 6 and Warzone as part of the Season 4 Reloaded update. The mid-season refresh is slated to begin on June 26, 2025, at approximately noon Eastern, although it’s not confirmed if the Beavis and Butt-Head bundle will be available immediately at launch or shortly afterwards.

What to Expect

The crossover features Beavis and Butt-Head in a distinctive cel-shaded art style, closely mimicking their cartoon origins. Both characters are depicted wearing military fatigues and tactical gear - a humorous contrast to their usual slacker attire. Promotional images and teasers show Butt-Head sporting night-vision goggles and a semi-automatic rifle, while Beavis is seen with a helmet and dual-wielding rifles, one of which is covered in cheese stains for comedic effect.

This collaboration also introduces a cel-shaded version of the popular Rebirth Island map, further embracing the cartoon aesthetic and setting the stage for a visually unique experience within the gritty Call of Duty universe.

Bundle Details and In-Game Content

While specific details about the bundle’s contents are still under wraps, players can expect the following based on past crossovers and available teasers:

  • Operator Skins: Beavis and Butt-Head, likely available as a bundle for around 2,800–3,000 COD Points.
  • Weapon Blueprints: The duo is shown holding stylized weapons, suggesting themed blueprints will be included.
  • Event Pass: There are hints of a special event pass or additional rewards tied to the crossover, though full details are pending.
  • Map Variant: A cel-shaded Rebirth Island map variant will launch alongside the operators, providing a cartoonish twist to the classic map.

Community Reaction and Context

The addition of Beavis and Butt-Head sparked a lot of debate within the Call of Duty community. Some players are amused by the absurdity and nostalgia of the crossover, while others see it as a sign that Call of Duty’s operator skins have fully embraced pop culture chaos.

This isn’t the first time Call of Duty has crossed over with 90s icons - previous skins have included action heroes like Rambo and John McClane. However, the cartoonish, cell-shaded look of Beavis and Butt-Head stands out as particularly bold and unexpected.

Looking Ahead

As the Call of Duty franchise gears up for the release of Black Ops 7, the Beavis and Butt-Head crossover keeps the series in the cultural spotlight and underscores Activision’s willingness to blend nostalgia, humor, and pop culture into its flagship shooter. Whether this bundle will carry forward into future titles remains to be seen, but for now, fans can look forward to some truly offbeat action on the battlefield.
