100 Thieves Claim First-Ever International VALORANT Title at Esports World Cup

100 Thieves have been crowned champions of the VALORANT Esports World Cup 2026, defeating regional rivals NRG in a tense five-map grand final. The win marks a defining moment for the organization, delivering their first-ever international trophy after years of near-misses and missed qualifications.

Quick 3-1 for 100 Thieves

The series opened on NRG's map pick, Breeze, where 100 Thieves quickly settled into a rhythm. Despite dropping the pistol round and the round that followed, they exploded on the attack side to build a 9-3 lead heading into the second half. That momentum carried them to a comfortable 13-7 map win.

Sunset, 100 Thieves' own pick, followed a similar script. Another dominant 9-3 opening half put NRG on the back foot, and 100T closed things out even quicker this time, sealing the map 13-6 and taking a commanding 2-0 series lead.

NRG refused to fade quietly, though. On their pick of Haven, the reigning 2025 world champions turned in a masterclass performance, storming to a 10-2 first half before finishing the map 13-3. The dominant showing kept their hopes alive and set up a tense fourth map.

Map 4, Ascent, produced the series' biggest twist. NRG opened strong on defense, racing to a 9-3 half that had fans anticipating a decider.

But 100 Thieves flipped the script entirely, mirroring that exact 9-3 scoreline on their own defensive half to force overtime. NRG couldn't hold their nerve in the extra rounds, and 100 Thieves closed out the map 14-12 to win the series 3-1.

Breaking Through After Years of Frustration

This championship run represents 100 Thieves' first international VALORANT title. Their previous ceiling was a fourth-place finish at Masters Shanghai in 2024, and notably, the team hadn't even qualified for an international event in either 2025 or 2026 before this breakthrough.

The turnaround makes their World Cup win one of the most remarkable storylines of the year.

Cryocells Shines as Perfect Run Continues

Matthew "Cryocells" Panganiban capped off the tournament by earning MVP honors, posting a dominant 65-52 kill-death ratio in the grand final alone.

His performance underscored a tournament run where 100 Thieves didn't lose a single match, dropping only four maps across the entire event. RRQ stood alone as the sole team unable to take a map off the eventual champions.

Looking Ahead to Americas Stage 2

With Americas Stage 2 on the horizon, attention now shifts to how 100 Thieves and fellow international champions Leviatan translate their world-stage success into regional form. Both teams enter the next phase carrying newfound weight as proven winners on the biggest stage.
