How to Read the League of Legends Team Rankings Table

The League of Legends (LoL) team rankings table is meant to answer one question: who's strong right now?

Each team is listed with Rank, Rating, Win Rate, Matches, and recent-results form. The LoL team rankings are about current strength and recent performance signals, because competitive LoL changes fast: patches, schedules, and roster swaps can flip the table in weeks.

Rank and Rating

Rank is assigned by Rating. That's the entire mechanism: teams are sorted by Rating, and the highest Rating is #1 in the LoL rankings.

What Rating means in Strafe's system:

  • It updates from match outcomes
  • Recent results count more than older ones
  • Wins against stronger opponents matter more than wins against weaker opponents

At the top of Strafe's LoL world rankings, small differences are usually meaningful because they're formed from repeated outcomes against high-quality opposition. Lower in the table, small differences can be less meaningful due to volatility and smaller sample sizes.

This ranking reflects current team strength, not historical achievements.

Win Rate and Matches

Win rate is the percentage of matches won. It's easy to read and also easy to misread.

Matches played is what keeps win rate honest:

  • 70% over 10 matches ≠ 70% over 100 matches
  • Small samples are more affected by streaks, easy opponents, or short-lived peaks

In the League of Legends team rankings, a team with a slightly lower win rate but a much larger match sample can be a more stable indicator of strength than a team with a hot streak and low volume.

Team Form (Recent Results)

Recent form shows the last five matches as a W/L trend.

It helps you see:

  • Short-term momentum
  • Whether a team is steady or swinging
  • How likely the rating could move soon

Because recency is weighted in Strafe's Rating, form is not cosmetic. It can influence movement in the LoL rankings today quickly, especially after a run of results versus strong opponents.

What the Rating Score Represents

The Rating score in LoL team rankings is performance-based and calculated using:

  • Recent matches
  • Strength of opponents
  • Consistency
  • Results over time

This is why "ranking points" movement can look sharp after a single match: the system is built to react to meaningful results, not to preserve old reputation.

Best Teams vs Most Successful Teams

The best League of Legends teams right now are not always the most historically successful teams.

Historical success: trophies, legacy runs, famous rosters, big-name orgs. Best right now: current Rating and recent weighted results.

A team can be iconic and still fall in the LoL team rankings if their recent performance drops. Meanwhile, a less celebrated roster can rise fast if they consistently beat strong opponents across enough matches.

Recent months matter more than previous seasons in a current-strength ranking.

How to Use LoL Rankings

Use LoL rankings today to:

  • Follow the competitive scene with less guesswork
  • Compare teams across regions and events based on performance signals
  • Understand whether a team's results are stable or streak-based
  • Anticipate match performance trends using Rating direction and recent form
