*Note that teams and seeds will be further updated in this article as regional tournaments draw to a close.
Read below to explore how every region battled through their respective regional brackets to qualify for Worlds 2026:
Tournament Format Breakdown
Play-In Stage Format
Hosted in Los Angeles, California, the Play-In Stage features a four-team, double-elimination bracket where every series is contested under a best-of-five (Bo5) structure.
-
Participating Squads: The Play-In field consists of CBLOL Seed 2, Karmine Corp, LCS Seed 3, and MVK Esports.
-
Draw Mechanics: Matchups are set via a fully random draw taking place on October 10 immediately following the conclusion of the CBLOL Finals. Any team in the Play-In pool can be drawn against any other team.
Swiss Stage Rules & Draw Tiers
Taking place in Allen, Texas, the Swiss Stage tests squad consistency across a maximum of five competitive rounds. Teams must secure three match victories to qualify for the Knockout Stage, whereas accumulating three match losses results in immediate elimination.
Round 1 pairings will be determined via a random live draw on October 18 following the Play-In Stage finale. For initial seeding purposes, the 16 participating teams are structured into four designated draw tiers:
-
Tier 1: GEN, AL, LCS Seed 1, G2
-
Tier 2: CBLOL Seed 1, TSW, HLE, BLG
-
Tier 3: LCS Seed 2, MKOI, T1, TES
-
Tier 4: CFO, IG, DK, Play-Ins Winner
Note: Placeholder slot identifiers represent designated seed allocations awaiting final confirmation upon regional tournament completion.
Swiss Stage Draw & Progression Mechanics:
-
Round 1 Matching: Tier 1 teams are randomly matched against Tier 4 teams, while Tier 2 teams face Tier 3 teams. Intra-regional matchups are strictly prohibited during Round 1.
-
Rounds 2 through 5: Teams are drawn against random opponents holding an identical win-loss record (e.g., 1-0 records match against 1-0 records).
-
Matchup Restrictions: Rematches between teams that have already played each other during the Swiss Stage are strictly forbidden. Intra-regional matches become permissible starting in Round 2.
-
Subsequent Draw Schedule: Mid-stage draws take place following match completions on October 23, October 24, October 26, and October 30. Match play pauses for a designated rest day on October 27.
Knockout Stage & Finals Draw
Following the final Swiss Stage deciders on October 31, the eight surviving teams advance into the high-stakes, single-elimination Quarterfinals Draw.
-
Quarterfinals Draw Rules: The two teams advancing with unblemished 3-0 Swiss records are randomly paired against two of the teams advancing with 3-2 records.
-
The remaining four teams (the 3-1 teams and the remaining 3-2 team) are drawn randomly into two additional Quarterfinal matchups.
