VALORANT Patch 13.08 introduces Map Rating, a new feature that lets players track how well they perform on each map. The update also rotates maps in and out of Competitive and Deathmatch, makes several changes to Corrode, and brings improvements to the game's interface.

Bind returns to the map pool alongside Corrode, while Ascent and Split are being removed. Riot Games has also shared more details about recent Performance Score adjustments, addressed several bugs, and released a breakdown of player bans issued during Act 5.

How Does the New Map Rating System Work in VALORANT?

The new Map Rating system tracks a player's performance on individual maps over time. Each map receives a numerical rating from 0 to 500, along with a letter grade ranging from C to S.

Ratings are calculated using four main statistics:

  • Overall win rate on the map.
  • Attacker-side win rate.
  • Defender-side win rate.
  • Performance Score.

Recent matches carry more weight than older ones, so ratings can change as players improve or struggle on a particular map. The feature also displays information such as a player's most-used agents and can be accessed during Agent Select, on the End of Game screen, and through the Career page.

Map Rating is available in Competitive and Premier. Ratings and their associated statistics are private, meaning other players cannot view them.

Everyone will also start from scratch when the feature launches. Matches played before Patch 13.08 will not count toward the new ratings.

Which Maps Are Entering and Leaving in VALORANT Patch 13.08?

Patch 13.08 brings another rotation to the Competitive and Deathmatch map pools, with two maps coming in and two heading out.

  • Entering: Bind and Corrode.
  • Leaving: Ascent and Split.

Corrode is also receiving several layout adjustments. Riot has shortened defender routes to the back of A Site and B Site, making rotations faster and giving defenders a better chance to retake either site.

Mid has also been reworked to give attackers more options when pushing through Lower Mid toward A Link. The changes include a metal half wall, repositioned boxes, a new jump-up spot, and adjustments to nearby cover. The A Site plant zone has also been modified to make post-plant setups from A Link less effective.

Riot Games provided before-and-after screenshots highlighting the changes to Corrode's layout.

What Changed with Performance Score?

Riot Games also provided more context on adjustments to Performance Score, although these changes were already implemented in Patch 13.06 rather than being introduced in 13.08.

The adjustments increased the impact of damage, adjusted kills, and adjusted deaths on a player's score. These metrics also take First Bloods and First Deaths into account.

Chamber received additional scoring adjustments to better reflect the value of his utility. According to Riot, the changes were designed to address cases where the system placed too much emphasis on factors beyond kills and damage.

Performance Score still considers contributions beyond fragging, but the revised calculations aim to provide a more balanced assessment of individual performance.

Killjoy and Client Interface Updates

Killjoy receives a small visual and audio update. Her Alarmbot will now trigger its destruction effects and sound feedback when moving doors destroy the projectile.

The client also features a redesigned Queue and Mode Select interface for both matchmade and custom games.

Meanwhile, the Career page now has a navigation bar, making it easier to access features such as Rank Legacy, Accolades, and Map Rating.

Alongside the patch notes, Riot Games released a breakdown of accounts banned for three days or longer during Act 5's detection period, which ran from August 18 to October 1.

The figures include more than 171,000 bans for cheating, 54,000 for botting, 76,000 for rank manipulation, and 74,000 for toxicity or communication abuse.

The largest category involved repeated AFK behavior and gameplay abuse, with more than 288,000 bans. Another 14,000 accounts were penalized for using stream-sniping or instalocking tools.

Riot reported these figures by category but did not clarify whether individual accounts could appear in more than one category.

The developer said it plans to share enforcement statistics more frequently and encouraged players to continue submitting in-game reports, which help improve its detection systems.

Bug Fixes and Known Issues in Patch 13.08

Patch 13.08 also addresses several issues affecting Competitive, gameplay audio, and weapons.

  • Fixed an incorrect threshold displayed for the Masterful accolade in Competitive.
  • Fixed an issue where alternate footstep sounds sometimes failed to play while a character was in Fog of War.
  • Fixed body-fall sounds playing at incorrect locations when agents died in Fog of War.
  • Fixed occasional issues with weapon bounce sound effects not triggering as expected.
  • Fixed the Warden's scope reticle becoming misaligned during full-auto fire.

Riot is still working on a visual bug that causes Team MVP to display incorrectly in Match History.

The Range in Queue feature also remains disabled after an issue caused some players to become stuck in a bugged queue state while using the Practice Range. Riot says a fix is currently being tested.
