VALORANT New Mode SKIRMISH: How it Works, Maps, Release Date, and More

Riot Games is set to debut a brand-new mode at VALORANT Champions 2025. A throwback to the aim maps from Counter-Strike, SKIRMISH is a new mode focused purely on raw aim duels to win rounds.

How SKIRMISH Works

The fifth Deathmatch-style mode to be added to the game, SKIRMISH will feature three maps: A, B, and C.

Available as Solo, Duo, or Team (3-player)
Eliminate the opposition to win
First to 10 rounds
No abilities or plants

Similar to Team Deathmatch, SKIRMISH is designed to sharpen players’ gunplay. Especially for new players, the mode will provide a chance to get familiar with VALORANT’s weapon mechanics.

Release Date

The mode will debut on Day 1 of the VALORANT Champions Finals Weekend. Former OpTic and NRG IGL Pujan “FNS” Mehta will reveal the mode live on his stream.

Players worldwide will be able to access SKIRMISH in Custom lobbies starting October 3. The full release and more details will follow with the official reveal.

Along with the SKIRMISH reveal, the VALORANT Champions 2025 Finals Weekend will feature:

Friday, October 3: Upper Finals & Lower Semifinals, VALORANT // DEV Update, SKIRMISH Reveal
Saturday, October 4: Lower Finals, New Lore Cinematic, Custom Game Mode Match, Voice Actor Panel
Sunday, October 5: Grand Finals, Agent Reveal, Opening Ceremony, 2026 VCT Announcements
