As the final act of Episode 9 comes to an end, VALORANT will enter the new year with a new episode. The new episode promises to be a shift in the meta, the map pool and last but not the least, the introduction of a new agent.

The last four agents have been two sentinels(Deadlock and Vyse), a duelist (Iso), and a controller (Clove) and it is high time a new initiator is added to the mix.

Agent 27: VALORANT's Newest Initiator

Last night, VALORANT teased Agent 27, an initiator hailing from Colombia. Diving from the deployment aircraft, the new agent will be themed around bees.

As of the time of this writing, there have been no leaks regarding the abilities of the new agent. But going off the bee theme and there being only two recon initiators currently on the roster, there is a high chance the new agent will be a recon specialist.

A reddit post by u/celz9 theorized that the multiple references to Bees in the VALORANT Battlepass as well as the recent archetypes released by Riot signified that Riot was looking to destabilize the base meta that had been in place since the inception of the game.

The post linked the bee theme to 'frequency as a means to detect nearby threats', similar to the real-life insect, lending real legs to the theory that Agent 27 will be an intriguing and unique addition to the VALORANT roster.

Colombia is well-known for its beekeeping and honey-production as well, lending even further credence to the theory.

Agent 27th will also be the 7th initiator to be a part of the VALORANT protocol and will be the first agent released as part of the 2025 calendar. There will likely be three more agents released throughout the year; a duelist, a sentinel and a controller.

When will the VALORANT agent 27 release?

As discussed, the new agent will be released with the new episode. The release date is 5th January, 2025.

Neo provided a ton of insight into the organization's participation at this year's edition of EWC in Paris. He expressed his desire for the org to perform to the highest standards, but also highlighted that rivalry is key to grow the ecosystem. Additionally, Neo gave strong opinions on the growth of mobile esports following last year's Vitality's takeover and merger with Indonesian side Bigetron, stressing the need for innovation and following ideas in the east, as much as the west.
