V1c Steps Down from Cloud9, Notexxd Steps In

Cloud9 dropped some unexpected news on May 8th. Victor "v1c" Truong is stepping down from the active Cloud9 VALORANT roster to take a break from competing, and Notexxd will be sliding in to fill his spot. It's a tough pill to swallow mid-season, but Cloud9 isn't slowing down.

The timing adds weight to what has already been a turbulent stretch for the North American franchise in 2026. Just weeks prior, the org parted ways with Erik "penny" Penny during the active stage. Now comes another shakeup, and the community is rightfully paying close attention to how this roster handles the pressure.

Two Seasons, One Consistent Face

v1c joined Cloud9 back in October 2024 as part of a significant roster overhaul heading into VCT 2025. He arrived alongside Daniel "Rossy" Abedrabbo, tasked with filling the void left by the departures of Anthony "Vanity" Malaspina and Dylan "Runi" Cade. From day one, v1c took ownership of the controller role for a squad that was still building its identity.

What stands out about his tenure is the resilience. Several teammates came and went through two full seasons of roster shuffles, yet v1c stayed on the active lineup through it all. That kind of longevity doesn't happen by accident. The break he's taking appears to be a personal decision, and from the sound of the announcement, the door hasn't been closed on a potential return down the road.

Notexxd Gets His Shot

Cloud9 didn't sit on the news for long. Notexxd is stepping directly into the active lineup, ready to compete. Jumping into a roster mid-season carries real pressure, but it's also the kind of moment that separates players who are ready from those who aren't. Cloud9 clearly believes Notexxd is in the first group.

With Notexxd now on board, the active roster sits alongside Erick "Xeppaa" Bach, Francis "OXY" Hoang, and Jordan "Zellsis" Montemurro, with coach Ian "Immi" Harding guiding the whole operation. The core is still there. The question is whether the new blood can lock in fast enough to make a real difference in VCT Americas 2026.

Cloud9 Keeps Moving Forward

This is not a team that gives up when things get complicated. The backbone of Xeppaa, OXY, and Zellsis remains intact, and that foundation carries real competitive value. Notexxd's integration into the system will be the storyline to watch over the coming weeks.

As for v1c, the hope is simple: take the time needed, come back recharged. Mental health matters in esports just as much as mechanical skill, and players who step back with that kind of self-awareness usually return stronger. Whenever that day comes, people will be watching.
