T1 Triumphs at VALORANT Masters Bangkok in a Thrilling Grand Final over G2 Esports

T1 has emerged victorious at VALORANT Masters Bangkok, securing their first major international title after a hard-fought 3-2 victory over G2 Esports in the Grand Final.

The win grants them valuable VCT points and a $250,000 prize, setting them up as a top contender for the rest of the season.

A Tale of Two Playoff Runs

Both teams had a similar start in the Swiss Stage, each suffering one loss before taking different playoff paths.

G2 dominated the upper bracket, securing a 2-0 win over Team Liquid after falling to EDward Gaming. In the playoffs, they swept tournament favorites Team Vitality before avenging their loss to EDG in the upper bracket final.

Meanwhile, T1 fought through the lower bracket, defeating DRX 2-0 before falling to EDG 2-1. They rebounded with 2-1 victories over Vitality and EDG, earning a hard-fought spot in the Grand Final.

A Grand Final for the Ages

The Grand Final kicked off shortly after the reveal of Waylay, VALORANT’s newest agent, but the focus quickly shifted to the intense action between T1 and G2.

The Grand Final between T1 and G2 Esports was a back-and-forth battle, with multiple overtimes and incredible clutches, making it one of the most thrilling VALORANT matches ever.

Map 1: Lotus – T1 started strong but couldn’t hold off G2’s relentless aggression. After an 8-4 halftime lead, G2 closed out the map 13-5, taking the early advantage.

Map 2: Haven – G2 looked set to dominate again, but T1 fought back, evening the score 6-6 at halftime. In the second half, T1 outpaced G2 7-3, winning 13-9 to level the series.

Map 3: Abyss – Despite a strong 8-4 start for T1, G2 mounted a comeback. Coming down from 8-11, they managed to win 5 rounds back-to-back to claim the map at 13-11.

Map 4: Split – G2 controlled the first half 8-4, but T1 roared back, forcing overtime at 12-12. After a tense exchange of rounds, T1 won 15-13, forcing a decisive fifth map.

Map 5: Pearl – T1 dominated early, but G2 forced another overtime at 12-12. After a nail-biting finish, T1 finally closed it out 16-14, claiming their first Masters title.

Historic Accolades for T1 Players

This victory marked a career milestone for multiple players on T1:

  • Stax, BuZz, and iZu won their first major international title, having previously fallen short in multiple international and regional competitions.
  • Meteor secured his second Masters title, following his victory with Gen.G in 2024. He has also been named the MVP of the tournament.
  • Sylvan, playing in his first-ever international Tier 1 event, made an instant impact by helping T1 lift the trophy.

Looking Ahead

T1’s win at Masters Bangkok cements them as an early favorite for the 2025 VALORANT season. With five VCT points and momentum on their side, they are in a strong position to qualify for Champions later this year.

Meanwhile, G2’s impressive performance earned them three VCT points and $100,000, proving they will be a team to watch in upcoming events.

As the season progresses, this thrilling Grand Final will be remembered as one of the best matches in VALORANT history, setting the stage for an exciting year ahead.
