Astralis, PARIVISION and The MongolZ Lead the Race: PGL Bucharest 2026 Playoffs Preview

Astralis, PARIVISION and The MongolZ Lead the Race: PGL Bucharest 2026 Playoffs Preview

While a lot of top teams skipped PGL Bucharest 2026, it wasn’t without any excitement. FaZe Clan, who decided to skip the first two days of the event for a chance to qualify for the Major, ended up losing the Major spot and then getting eliminated from Bucharest

Not to mention s1mple and BC.Game esports continuing their struggles as they exit yet another big tournament with a significant run.

On the more successful side of the tournament, we have: FUT, who have consistently climbed through the ranks, Astralis, who appear to have hit their stride, and the MongolZ, who are trying to reclaim their 2025 form and rankings with cobra.

Overall, despite having no Falcons, Spirit, MOUZ, FURIA or the overlords—Team Vitality, Bucharest has been a fun tournament to watch. And this was just the first stage of the tournament.

Starting tomorrow, April 9, the remaining eight teams will play the PGL Bucharest 2026 Playoffs. Let’s see what the rest of the tournament has in store for us.

With these eight teams locked in, the Quarterfinal fixtures for PGL Bucharest 2026 are as follows:

  • 3DMAX vs. MIBR [April 9 8:00 am CET] - Both teams have been performing on a similar level, but we expect 3DMAX’s experience to help them secure the semifinal spot.

  • Astralis vs. EYEBALLERS [April 9 11:00 am CET] - The game is Astralis' to lose as they have been looking better than their previous few years. EYEBALLERS have shown some good Counter-Strike, but they are far from a team that can take down current Astralis.

  • B8 vs. FUT Esports [April 9 2:00 pm CET] - This is the battle of the future stars of the CIS region. While B8 has been hanging around tier 1 the longest, we expect FUT, the one’s tearing through the scene, to walk away with a comfortable victory.

  • The MongolZ vs. PARIVISION [April 9 5:00 pm CET] - If these teams started on the opposite side of the bracket, this fixture was a likely Grand Finals matchup. This is the clash of two opposite ideologies of CS, with PARIVISION slowing down the tempo, and MongolZ consistently speeding up. The clash is not just the showstopper for the night, but also the most unpredictable, because both teams are equally amazing.

For a Seat at the Table - Who Wins PGL Bucharest 2026?

As mentioned before, there are a lot of big names missing from the tournament. But that doesn’t mean none of these competing teams are elite. The fact of the matter is, the winner of Bucharest will likely solidify itself as a solid tier 1 team for the foreseeable future.

Especially with MOUZ and Team Spirit struggling to find their footing, either Astralis, The MongolZ or PARIVISION can step in to snatch up the spot with consistent performance.

The closest at the moment are Jame’s PARIVISION. The young squad led by “The Redeemer” has already won a tournament by defeating Falcons to start the year. The win at Bucharest will be the stamp of approval that establishes them as a solid tier 1 team.

The MongolZ have been the closest to the top previously. Now they are trying to claw back once again with cobra in the roster. They have already shown glimpses of the past, and a victory at Bucharest would be a natural progression of their improvement. Even if they lose to PARIVISION, they’d learn to play against a structured slower team and that’d help their improvement.

Astralis, the former kings of CS:GO, have also shown consistent improvements since switching to an international roster and, if they win the event here, the confidence will help them shoot up in the power rankings.

FUT, the former NAVI Junior squad, is also a strong tier 1 prospect. However, the lack of experience has bothered the squad in the past, and we’d have to see how they perform for a few more events before they take a seat at the big boy table.

These four teams are currently the frontrunners to win the event. And it’d be really hard to make a case for the remaining four teams at the moment. That said, this is high-level competition, and anything can happen.
