No More Bo1s: LEC Announces Bo3s for Spring Split Regular Season

No More Bo1s: LEC Announces Bo3s for Spring Split Regular Season

Earlier today, LEC announced several details for the upcoming 2026 Spring Split. The most exciting part of this announcement is the decision to finally switch from Bo1 to Bo3 for the Regular Season.

Bo3 Regular Season Arrives in Europe

With LCS switching to Bo3s in 2026, the LEC was the only remaining tier-1 league to feature Bo1s for the Regular Season. This not only meant less games per season, but increased the volatility.

The recent LEC 2026 Versus was the perfect example of Bo1 volatility, as G2 Esports, a team that only barely qualified for the Playoffs, ended up winning the whole event.

Moreover, Fearless Draft not only adds excitement but also a layer of complexity to every series. For a team to win, they need to play better and have a better plan than their opposition.

Another way to look at the change would be more reps for LEC teams on the stage. They can experiment with different drafts and face similarly challenging drafts. This doesn’t necessarily mean the LEC would be more competitive against the East, but they will be better prepared strategically.

LEC 2026 Spring Split Kicks Off March 28

Apart from the switch to Bo3s, the rest of the Regular Season and Playoffs are pretty much the same, including the First Selection Ruleset introduced at the start of 2026. The 10 LEC teams will play for the two MSI spots with the regular season being a round robin followed by a six team double-bracket Playoffs starting March 28 05:00 pm CET.

This season will also feature two roadshows:

With the introduction of the Bo3 Regular Season, these events have gotten even more exciting to attend.
