MOUZ Make Surprise Roster Changes Ahead of the Cologne Major

MOUZ have announced a significant roster shuffle just weeks before the IEM Cologne 2026 Major. The German organization confirmed via their official X account that they will be making changes to their lineup for their next two tournament runs, fielding a modified squad for PGL Astana and CS Asia Championship 2026 in Shanghai before making a change again for Cologne.

For PGL Astana and CS Asia Championship, MOUZ will field xelex, Spinx, torzsi, xertioN, and jL (on loan from Natus Vincere). For the Cologne Major, jL makes way for Brollan, who returns to the active lineup, though notably, no longer in the IGL role. That responsibility has been handed over to xertioN, in what is perhaps the most eyebrow-raising detail of this entire announcement.

Sycrone Pays Tribute to Brollan and jimpphat

Head coach sycrone addressed the changes in a heartfelt statement on X, acknowledging the emotional weight of the decision. He was particularly generous in his praise for Ludvig "Brollan" Brolin, calling his sacrifices and leadership "exceptional," while admitting the decision "is not fair to him on a personal level." He also praised Jimi "jimpphat" Salo for his contributions, highlighting the young Finn's deep tournament runs and mechanical brilliance at such an early stage of his career.

Sycrone was careful to distribute responsibility evenly, noting that results in a team environment are always "multifactorial," and called for more humanity from the public when judging players going through difficult periods.

The IGL Transition

The shift in leadership is a critical subplot here. Brollan had been MOUZ's in-game leader for well over a year now, and under his direction, the team achieved a first-place finish at PGL Cluj-Napoca in 2025, giving them their peak moment in recent memory.

However, the transition of the IGL duties to xertioN signals a clear shift in tactical philosophy. PGL Astana will now serve as his trial by fire, and how he performs there will be closely watched as a preview of what MOUZ might look like heading into Cologne.

xelex Gets His Chance

Stepping in for jimpphat is Adrian "xelex" Vincze, a Hungarian talent who has been part of the MOUZ NXT academy setup since 2023. It's a long-awaited promotion for the young player, though it comes at a time when MOUZ NXT themselves have struggled for consistency, their best result of 2026 being a victory at Urban Riga Open #2 in January.

A Team at a Crossroads

MOUZ's recent form has been deeply concerning. After a brief stint sitting comfortably as arguably the second-best team in the world behind Vitality, their 2026 results have been a steady decline, bottoming out with a 13th–16th at BLAST Open Spring before a modest 5th–6th showing at IEM Rio. These changes, drastic as they may seem, feel like a necessary reset for a team that knows time is running out before the Major.

Whether this gamble pays off remains to be seen. MOUZ have all the individual talent to compete, but with a new IGL at the helm and fresh blood in the lineup, Astana will tell us very quickly whether this is a calculated masterstroke or a desperate roll of the dice.

How the XSE Pro League 2026 Became CS2's Biggest Disaster

Nobody expected the 2026 XSE Pro League to become the disaster it is right now, and that stings even more given the $1,000,000 prize pool attached to it. What was pitched as a big new stop on the Counter-Strike 2 calendar has instead spiraled into so much dysfunction that the community built an entire compilation thread just to keep up with it all.
