FUT Esports walked into IEM Krakow 2026 as heavy underdogs against FURIA, and walked out with a stunning 2-0 victory in the Group A Upper Bracket quarterfinal that left everyone speechless. The Turkish squad, ranked #14 in the VRS (Valve Ranking System), dismantled the #2 ranked Brazilian powerhouse in what might be the biggest upset of the tournament so far. FUT proved that rankings don't always tell the whole story.

The defeat stings even more when you consider FURIA's recent form and expectations. The Brazilian squad came into Krakow as one of the favorites to make a deep run, with their experienced core and tactical prowess. They'd even beaten FUT 2-1 in their previous meeting just two weeks ago during the play-in stage. But none of that mattered today.

Moving Forward

For FUT, this victory is massive. They've proven they can hang with the elite teams and aren't just here to make up the numbers. The confidence boost from taking down a top-three team in dominant fashion could fuel a surprising tournament run. Their next opponent will have to take them seriously, the underdog tag doesn't fit quite as comfortably anymore.

As for FURIA, they're not out yet. The double-elimination format gives them a lifeline, but they'll need to quickly figure out what went wrong. Dropping to the lower bracket means their path to the playoffs just got significantly harder.
