FURIA Runs Out of Miracles Against Team Falcons at PGL Astana 2026

Team Falcons edged out FURIA in a brutal three-map quarterfinal at the PGL Astana 2026, winning 2-1 in a series that felt less like a CS2 match and more like a war of attrition. The Brazilian side did everything but win, and that is what makes this elimination sting so hard.

Mirage Belongs to FURIA... For a While

Falcons picked Mirage and grabbed the opening pistol, but FURIA took over almost immediately. Powered by a standout performance from molodoy, the Brazilians dominated the armored rounds and built a comfortable 8-4 lead by halftime.

Even after kyousuke swiped the CT-side pistol for Falcons and NiKo pulled off a clutch 3k in an eco round, FURIA never truly wobbled. They closed it out 13-9 with authority. One map down, two to go.

The Map That Should Have Sealed It

Nuke was FURIA's pick, and for long stretches it looked like they were going to run away with it. They opened 6-2 on T-side before Falcons found their footing and leveled things at 6-6 at the half. The second half turned into a rollercoaster. Falcons reached map point at 12-10, but FURIA clawed back through sheer willpower, with yuurih's clutch win against kyousuke forcing overtime.

In the first OT, YEKINDAR took charge and drove FURIA to a 14-13 lead, and then matchpoint. Then came the moment that flipped the series: with a seemingly comfortable 4v2 in the post-plant, m0NESY and kyousuke pulled off a retake that nobody saw coming, dragging the match into a second OT. KSCERATO answered with a jaw-dropping 1v3 clutch to put FURIA back on matchpoint, but Falcons refused to die.

A third OT. And there, the Europeans finally closed it out 22-20 in one of the most painful map losses of this year.

Dust2 Puts Out the Fire

By the time the decider rolled around, FURIA had already used up a lifetime's worth of clutch plays. Falcons grabbed an early grip on the T-side, went up 7-5 at the half, and extended to 9-5 after kyousuke dominated the second pistol round. FURIA refused to fold, grinding back to level at 11-11, but again left points on the table when a 4v3 late entry collapsed.

Overtime was needed once more. FURIA had their chance at 15-15 in the first extra period, watched it slip, and in the second OT Falcons secured back-to-back T-side rounds and survived two desperate B-site executes to win 19-17.

More Action to Come

Falcons advance to the semifinals, where they will meet the surprise of the tournament, magic, on Saturday May 16. For FURIA, the run ends in 5th-8th place, taking home $80,000 in prize money.

The squad will now shift focus to what matters most on their calendar: the upcoming CS2 Major in Cologne.
