Fnatic Signs ENGH as New VALORANT Head Coach

Fnatic has a new tactical architect. The iconic British organization officially confirmed the signing of Andrey "ENGH" Sholokhov as their new VALORANT Head Coach, bringing in one of EMEA's most experienced tactical minds at a time when the team desperately needs a fresh direction.

A hire that makes a lot of sense

ENGH is a seasoned name in European VALORANT, having previously worked with Gambit before joining Karmine Corp in late 2023. He's the kind of tactician who prioritizes structure, player development, and long-term team cohesion. Those aren't just nice buzzwords. For a Fnatic roster searching for its identity, they're exactly what the doctor ordered.

The news didn't come out of nowhere. ENGH's voluntary resignation from Karmine Corp following a disappointing Stage 1 garnered only a short unemployment stint before Fnatic moved in. The British organization has just released their tenured Head Coach Milan “Milan” de Meij. From the heights of three Grand Finals in 2025 to missing out on 2 internationals in a row called for drastic measures and so Fnatic pounced.

The weight of a tough 2026 so far

Fnatic had a painful start to 2026. After finishing as runners-up at VALORANT Champions 2025, expectations were through the roof. But the team failed to qualify for Masters London 2026, a result that stung especially hard given how close they had come to the top of the mountain just months before. Reality hit hard, and changes were necessary.

ENGH brings a fresh set of eyes to a roster that already has the firepower. Getting these pieces to work together in a more consistent, disciplined system is the challenge ahead.

ENGH's journey to this point

His time at Karmine Corp wasn't without its highlights. The French organization won VCT 2024 EMEA Kick-Off shortly after ENGH joined. But 2026 brought a steep decline, with last-place finishes becoming the norm. Karmine Corp parted ways with him on May 1, 2026, and within weeks, Fnatic came calling.

That quick turnaround says everything. When a coach of ENGH's caliber becomes available, top organizations don't wait around. His reputation as a detail-oriented, player-first coach with a deep understanding of structured team play made him one of the most sought-after free agents in the EMEA scene.

Eyes on Stage 2

With VCT EMEA Stage 2 on the horizon, kicking off in mid-July, Fnatic now has a real window to reset and rebuild. ENGH will have time to install his systems, build trust with the roster, and prepare a game plan for what promises to be a fiercely contested league. The potential is clearly there. Now it's about unlocking it.

Whether this is the move that brings Fnatic back to the very top of EMEA remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: the orange and black aren't done competing yet.
