S1mple is back! But before the GOAT takes on the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 challenge, he and FaZe Clan will take on the IEM Dallas 2025 challenge.

The week-long tournament hosted by Texas kicks off May 19th and features 16 top Counter-Strike teams fighting for $300k USD and the IEM title.

Being the final stop before the major, a good Dallas performance will not only serve as a confidence booster but will set the tone for the teams on American soil.

Format and Teams

IEM Dallas 2025 will feature two stages: Group Stage and Playoffs

Group Stage

  • Two 8-team Groups will play Double-Elimination Brackets
  • The two groups are:
    • Group A
      • Team Vitality
      • Legacy
      • 3DMAX
      • GamerLegion
      • The MongolZ
      • FURIA
      • Lynn Vision Gaming
      • G2 Esports
    • Group B
      • MOUZ
      • BC.Games Esports
      • Team Liquid
      • FaZe Clan
      • Aurora Gaming
      • HEROIC
      • NRG
      • Team Falcons
  • 3 teams from each group qualify for the Playoffs
    • The Group Winners will be the first seed
    • The Runner-Ups will be the second seed.
    • The winner of the Lower Bracket Final will be the last seed.
  • All matches will be Bo3

Playoffs

  • Six teams will play a Single-Elimination Bracket
  • The first seeds from each group are directly seeded into the Semifinals
  • The bottom seeds will play the Quarterfinals
  • All matches are Bo3 except the Grand Final which is Bo5.

The tournament kicks off on May 19th with the Group Stage. The detailed schedule for IEM Dallas is as follows:

    • 10:30 pm CEST | 03:30 pm CST: Group A Upper Bracket and Lower Bracket Finals
    • 01:00 am CEST (next day) | 06:00 pm CST: Group B Upper Bracket and Lower Bracket Finals
  • Friday, May 23th:
    • 08:15 pm CEST | 01:15 pm CST: Quarterfinal #1
    • 11:15 pm CEST | 04:15 pm CST: Quarterfinal #2
  • Saturday, May 24th:
    • 08:15 pm CEST | 01:15 pm CST: Semifinal #1
    • 11:15 pm CEST | 04:15 pm CST: Semifinal #2
  • Sunday, May 25th:

Can FaZe S1mple Actually Make a Difference?

FaZe s1mple’s first IEM Dallas game will not only set the tone for the partnership but also serve as a litmus test for where the squad stands.

Team Liquid are neither too strong nor too weak as opponents, testing the limits of FaZe while still letting the squad breathe. Rain will miss the tournament, but skullz is a solid replacement for the Norse God.

FaZe isn’t a favorite for Dallas, but they shouldn’t be anyway. The team will likely focus on smoothing out any and all issues that pop up during the run.

For s1mple personally, Dallas presents a unique challenge. While adjusting to his new home, he has to prove that he deserves the opportunity—and that he has the ability to keep up in the current era.

For a player who once conquered the Counter-Strike esports—and did so dominantly—s1mple now has to do it all over again.
