Crisis at paiN Gaming: CEO Resigns as the TitaN Scandal Takes a Darker Turn

When crisis knocks on the door, it rarely comes alone. paiN Gaming is learning that the hard way. On Thursday (12), the organization announced the resignation of Thomas Hamence, the team's CEO since 2018, and the news didn't just come out of nowhere. It's the direct result of weeks of decisions that paiN itself admitted were wrong.

How It All Fell Apart

It all started in January 2026, when streamer Gabzuski revealed that she and four other women would be taking legal action against Alexandre "TitaN" Lima, AD carry player for paiN's League of Legends team, accusing him of the illegal sharing of intimate content and sexual harassment. paiN reacted by suspending the player indefinitely. It seemed like the end of the story, but it wasn't.

Things went south quickly when the São Paulo Civil Police confirmed they received a police report investigating TitaN for statutory rape, dissemination of pornography, and sexual abuse. With a 16-year-old among the victims, there was no way to downplay it anymore.

The Spark that Started the Fire

What finally brought Thomas Hamence down was a series of bombshell revelations published by Sheep Esports. According to the news outlet, during a meeting with fans, members of paiN's board allegedly stated that TitaN was "provoked" by the minor. A director also reportedly asked "how old the people in the room were when they lost their virginity." The organization allegedly tried to manipulate fan groups and denied having full knowledge of the accusations.

The backlash was immediate and brutal. Fan groups like Herdeiras da Tradição, Crias da P, Os Tradicionais, and paiN Fanfest released statements cutting ties with the organization. The fanbase that had always been paiN's heart simply turned its back.

The Reality Hits Hard

In their official statement, paiN admitted that their latest decisions were made by treating the organization "just like a company." The text even brought up the team's most famous catchphrase as a reminder of what they forgot to be amid the crisis: "This isn't a team, this is a f***ing family." Hamence steps down, but paiN hasn't announced who will take over the leadership yet, nor if there are other structural changes on the way.

Over in the CBLOL, TitaN's spot remains filled by Marvin, who stepped in for the suspended player. paiN had even returned to practice with the ADC shortly after his initial suspension, a move that only made the situation more explosive.

The organization claims this is "just the first step of a new era." For the fans who stayed, all that's left is to hope the next steps will be altogether different from the last ones.
