Counter-Strike 2 Update: Night Ancient, New M4A1-S Skin, Music Kits, and Major Sticker Sale

On August 15, Valve dropped a Counter-Strike 2 update. It features Night versions of Ancient and Shoots, new Music Kit box, Limited Edition M4A1-S | Solitude, and deploy animation update.

The 4.4 GB update also finally introduces the Austin CS2 Major Sticker sale.

Night Ancient and Shoots

The update introduces the rainy night versions of Ancient and Shoots. These new maps are only currently available for Deathmatch and Casual modes.

The original Ancient map is also reworked with the latest CS2 shader, improving it's overall appearance and performance.

  • Added nighttime versions.
  • Refreshed all ancient materials to use latest CS2 shaders.
  • Added new blending options for Ancient materials including wetness and moss.
  • Added "ancient_zoo.vmap" with all assets and blending examples for mapmakers.

New Music Kit and M4-A1-S | Solitude

After the last Limited Edition XM1014 | Solitude left the Armory Pass in July, the community awaited the new limited edition item. With the update, Counter-Strike introduces M4A1-S | Solitude, available to redeem at 25 stars.

Additionally, Deluge Music Kit Box featuring 10 Music Kits. These are available in StatTrak and Non-ST versions. They are available to purchase for $7.99 and $4.99, respectively.

Austin CS2 Major Sticker Sale

The Austin CS2 Major Sticker capsules are now 75% off, meaning you can grab them at $0.25 each. This also means that the individual sticker prices will drop in the coming weeks.

Lastly, the update improves multiple deploy animation, improves rendering performance, and disables the ability to use “fps_max” command while connected to the match server.

  • Sawed-off shotgun deploy modified and fixed shell penetration on reload.
  • Improved deploy +quick inspect animations for all knives.
  • Improved deploy +quick inspect animations for the AK, Galil, AUG, PP-Bizon.
  • Improved deploy animations for the AWP, M4A4, M4A1-S.
  • Improved animations for legacy SSG08 models.
  • Removed the deploy inspect delay for most weapons.
  • Fixed XM1014 blocking crosshair during reload.

[ MISC ]

  • Rendering performance improvements across most maps.
  • Rendering resolution and aspect ratio can now be changed in fullscreen windowed mode.
  • fps_max can no longer be changed while connected to a server.
  • Fixed a case where certain weapons could be fired sooner after a re-deploy.
