The update isn't just throwing a few cosmetics your way and calling it a day. We're talking new maps, game modes, weapons, and quality-of-life features that could shake up how you approach the game. Here's everything you need to know about what's now live.

Multiplayer Gets Three Maps and a Mode Worth Playing

The multiplayer lineup is stacked. Three maps are now in rotation, each bringing its own flavor to the table.

Yakei takes you to the rooftops of Japan for some vertical chaos. This small-sized 6v6 map features:

  • Wall Jumps to chase down enemies trying to escape
  • Maintenance passages weaving through ducts and electrical equipment
  • A three-lane design that rewards players who know how to use height advantages
  • One wrong step sends you tumbling to the streets below

Meltdown makes its grand return from Black Ops 2 with a full remaster treatment. The medium-sized classic delivers:

  • Updated visuals and dynamic lighting that bring the nuclear facility to life
  • Intense fights around the central ramps and cooling tower
  • Tactical opportunities in the turbine area and admin rooms
  • The same map flow that made it legendary back in the day

Fringe comes back based on its Black Ops 6 Season 04 version. The distillery map offers:

  • New Wall Jump opportunities for creative flanking routes
  • Close-quarters combat in the bar
  • The infamous loading zone chokepoint with stacked barrels
  • Sharpshooter positions in the barn and house overlooking the main road

Takeover Mode Mixes Things Up

The new Takeover mode throws a wrench into traditional objective gameplay by fusing Hardpoint and Domination. Here's how it works:

  • Three neutral zones spawn on the map
  • Teams earn points by capturing zones
  • Once captured, that zone becomes disabled and can't be contested again
  • After all three zones are captured, the map resets to three new zones after a cooldown
  • First team to hit the score limit wins

It's fast-paced, strategic, and forces teams to constantly adapt their positioning.
