Cache and Agency Coming to Counter-Strike 2? What We Know

Last night, well-known content creator and credible Valve data miner Gabe Follower made a cryptic tweet that has sent shockwaves across the community.

The tweet featured six emojis, and nothing else. Usually, his tweets are longer and more contextual, but this one wasn’t. Being the crazy community Counter-Strike is, they quickly got to work trying to decrypt what the message meant.

Six new maps!?

The hopeful meaning behind the tweet? Six new maps coming to the game with the upcoming update.

The maps are:

The most exciting of the leaked maps are the returning Cache and Agency. Previously part of the competitive pool, they are both community favorites. If they are actually released with the upcoming update, the community will definitely enjoy the nostalgia.

Out of the remaining four, Grail is the only classic defusal map, while the rest are Wingman maps. For now, you can check out all the maps in the workshop.

Is the update really coming?

The last content-heavy (non-skin related) update for Counter-Strike 2 was when Train was released back into the game in November 2024. While the Premier Season 2 update was game-related, it only introduced Train back into the pool.

This lack of content—coupled with a lackluster experience—has frustrated the community. Not to mention the bot farms and cheaters running rampant in the game. Conclusively, it hasn’t been a great time to be a Counter-Strike 2 player.

Despite the complaints, the game continues to make money for Valve, so it is only natural they update the game and add new content once in a while.

When can we expect the update?

There has been no confirmed date for the update, but given the recent activity from the devs, it might be soon.

Unfortunately, knowing how Valve handles Counter-Strike 2, we cannot confidently say it will drop this week—or even this month. But a speculative date would be sometime before the Major starts, i.e., June 2nd.

Additionally, there will likely be a competitive map pool change and a Premier season change following the conclusion of the BLAST.tv Austin Major.

Without prior notification or a fixed schedule, we simply have to wait and hope that Valve actually drops a content update.

The Paris-based org fields over 20 esports teams in various esports, though their immensely impressive results in Counter-Strike take center stage.  Being one of the organizations present at Esports World Cup 2026 in Paris, we managed to speak with Fabien "Neo" Devide, Co-Founder and CEO of the Hive, just after an interview with Mike McCabe, COO of the Esports World Cup Foundation, at the opening press conference at EWC. Neo provided a ton of insight into the organization's participation at this year's edition of EWC in Paris. He expressed his desire for the org to perform to the highest standards, but also highlighted that rivalry is key to grow the ecosystem. Additionally, Neo gave strong opinions on the growth of mobile esports following last year's Vitality's takeover and merger with Indonesian side Bigetron, stressing the need for innovation and following ideas in the east, as much as the west.
