Rift Legends (RL) is the top-level Eastern European professional League of Legends league and the official Polish Championship (Mistrzostwa Polski). It serves as a European Regional League (ERL) representing Poland along with Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Ukraine, Israel, and Georgia. The league succeeded Ultraliga starting in 2025 after the prior organizer’s license agreement with Riot Games expired.

History

Rift Legends launched in early 2025 as the direct replacement for Ultraliga. GAM3RS_X and Nervarien secured the Riot-licensed ERL slot. The inaugural Winter 2025 split introduced community-focused elements, including influencer-backed teams (such as Kiedyś Miałem Fun / KMF and devils.one collaborations), which drove unprecedented local interest.

The league has run three splits per year (Winter, Spring, Summer), with promotion/relegation tournaments. Early dominance by Zero Tenacity (three consecutive titles in 2025) gave way to greater parity in 2026. Organizational changes ahead of 2026 Winter included the exclusion of Zero Tenacity (salary issues), disbandment of Fajnie Mieć Skład, and removal of Back2TheGame (owner conduct), leading to new or invited teams filling spots. Team counts expanded from 8 to 10 for some 2026 splits. LAN finals have been hosted in cities including Warsaw (Multikino Złote Tarasy), Kraków, Łódź, and Wrocław (Kino Nowe Horyzonty).

Format

For Rift Legends 2026 Summer (and recent splits), the structure typically includes:

• Group/Regular Stage: Single round-robin, best-of-3 (Bo3) matches. With 10 teams in Summer 2026.
• Advancement: 1st–2nd place to Playoffs Upper Bracket; 3rd–4th to Lower Bracket. Lower placements may be eliminated from the split (while retaining Winter qualification) or face promotion/relegation.
• Gauntlet (where applicable): Bo3.
• Playoffs: Double-elimination bracket. Matches often Bo3 or Bo5 (Grand Final frequently Bo5). Top teams qualify for EMEA Masters Summer and the following Winter split.

Qualification is primarily through prior split performance, with open or closed promotions/expansions for additional spots. Prize pools are consistently €10,000 EUR (approximately $11,000–$11,700 USD depending on exchange rates), distributed mainly to the top 4.
