LES Summer 2026
Overview
The Liga Española de League of Legends (LES), commonly referred to as LES, is the top-tier professional League of Legends competition in Spain and one of the European Regional Leagues (ERLs) under the EMEA ecosystem. It serves as the primary pathway for Spanish teams to qualify for the EMEA Masters. Since 2026, the series has been organized by Lastlap in partnership with CABAL esports (also styled Cabal Esports), succeeding the long-running Superliga previously operated by the Liga de Videojuegos Profesional (LVP).
LES operates as a B-Tier tournament on Liquipedia rankings. The 2026 season features multiple splits, including a Kick-off Tournament, Spring Split, and Summer Split (with potential Season Finals or Final Four). The LES Summer 2026 is the Summer Split of this season. It is contested by eight teams in an online format based in Spain. Broadcasts air primarily on Twitch (twitch.tv/LES) and YouTube (@LESESPORTS). Official organizer sites include lastlap.com and cabalesports.com. The league holds cultural significance as Spain’s flagship LoL competition, with historical roots dating to 2012 and past EMEA Masters titles won by Spanish organizations such as MAD Lions E.C. (2018 Summer) and Team Heretics (2022 Summer).
History
The competition began in 2012 as the División de Honor, organized by LVP. It was rebranded as the Superliga (with title sponsors such as Orange and later Domino’s) from 2017 to 2025. Over more than a decade under LVP/Mediapro, it established itself as a competitive ERL with strong domestic talent development and occasional international success.
In November 2025, Riot Games announced a change of operator. Lastlap and CABAL esports assumed control for the 2026 season onward, renaming the league LES (Liga Española de League of Legends). The transition included a downsizing from 10 to 8 teams. Five teams were invited (Barça eSports, GIANTX Pride/iTero, Movistar KOI Fénix, Los Heretics/Team Heretics Academy, and UCAM Esports Club), with three additional spots filled via open applications (including Falke Esports, LUA Gaming, and Universitat de Barcelona/UB Alma Mater).
The 2026 season introduced a Kick-off Tournament (also referred to as Winter Cup or Kickoff) followed by Spring and Summer splits, aligning more closely with broader EMEA calendars while maintaining Spanish identity. Sponsorship has included KitKat. The league continues to feed into EMEA Masters qualification via championship points and direct spots.
Format
For LES 2026 Summer, eight teams compete in a single round-robin group stage with best-of-three (Bo3) matches. The top four teams advance to a single-elimination playoff bracket where all matches are best-of-five (Bo5) under Hard Fearless draft rules. The tournament runs online from Spain. Qualification to the league is primarily invitation-based with application spots; results contribute to season championship points and EMEA Masters berths.
Similar structures apply across 2026 splits, with variations: the Kick-off was a short offline multi-day event (groups/GSL-style elements leading to playoffs), while Spring featured a regular season followed by playoffs. Matches are typically Bo3 in groups/regular season and Bo5 in decisive playoff rounds. The overall season includes points accumulation toward potential Finals.
Participating teams in 2026 Summer (with current group standings as of mid-August 2026) include Movistar KOI Fénix (1st, 6–0), UCAM Esports Club (2nd, 5–1), Los Heretics (3rd, 5–1), Barça eSports (4th, 3–3), GIANTX Pride, LUA Gaming, Universitat de Barcelona, and Falke Esports.
Notable Editions
The 2026 season marks a historic transition with the new organizers and branding. The Kick-off Tournament (13–15 February 2026, offline in Madrid) launched the new era as a compact three-day event, crowning Movistar KOI Fénix as the first LES champions after defeating Barça eSports. It awarded EMEA Masters Winter qualification spots to the top teams.
The Spring Split (approximately 8 April – 5 June 2026) saw Team Heretics Academy (Los Heretics) claim the title by defeating UCAM Esports Club 3–1 in the grand final, with Movistar KOI Fénix finishing third. This split generated solid viewership for a regional league.
LES Summer 2026 (14 July – 20 August 2026, online) is currently ongoing as of mid-August 2026, with the group stage in its later weeks. Movistar KOI Fénix has dominated the regular season so far. Earlier Superliga eras featured dominant runs by organizations such as Giants/GIANTX (multiple titles), MAD Lions/Movistar Riders/KOI lineages, and Team Heretics, including international EMEA Masters triumphs that elevated Spanish LoL’s profile.

Viewership & Impact
LES maintains a dedicated Spanish-speaking audience. Spring 2026 peaked at 17,794 concurrent viewers with over 561,000 hours watched. Summer 2026 opened with a peak of 9,506 and has accumulated over 125,000 hours in early stages. Broadcasts are available on Twitch (twitch.tv/LES, ~27K+ followers) and YouTube (youtube.com/@LESESPORTS), with production by Lastlap and CABAL esports.
As Spain’s premier LoL league and an ERL feeder, LES plays a key role in talent pipelines to the LEC and international events. Spanish teams have claimed EMEA Masters titles, boosting regional prestige. The 2026 organizer transition and rebranding represent a fresh chapter after 13+ years under LVP, aiming to sustain competitiveness and fan engagement in the Spanish esports scene. The league contributes to the broader EMEA ecosystem by providing competitive depth below the LEC.
