LCP Split 3 2026

Overview

The LCP Split 3 2026 is the concluding split of the 2026 season of the League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP), the premier professional League of Legends esports league for the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. Organized by Riot Games in partnership with tournament operator Carry International (鍇睿國際), the LCP serves as the unified Tier 1 / S-Tier circuit replacing the former Pacific Championship Series (PCS) and Vietnam Championship Series (VCS), while integrating elements from the League of Legends Japan League (LJL).

It features eight teams—three permanent partner franchises and five guest teams subject to promotion/relegation—and awards qualification spots to the League of Legends World Championship. Matches are primarily held offline at the LCP Arena in Taipei, Taiwan (TW), with finals weekend at the Taipei Heping Basketball Gymnasium. The 2026 Split 3 carries an $80,000 USD prize pool and runs from approximately 2026-07-24/25 to 2026-08-30. As of mid-August 2026, the Swiss Stage is nearing completion with seeding matches underway, and playoffs are imminent.

The LCP holds significant prestige as one of the five major regional leagues in the global LoL esports ecosystem (alongside LCK, LPL, LEC, and LTA/LCS), providing direct pathways to international events including First Stand, the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI), and Worlds.

History

The LCP was officially created on 29 September 2024 by Riot Games and Carry International, following Riot’s June 2024 announcement of competitive overhauls for 2025. It unified the previously separate PCS (covering Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Southeast Asia, and later Oceania and Japan elements) and VCS (Vietnam) into a single pan-APAC Tier 1 league, with the LJL integrated earlier into the PCS structure. The LCO (Oceania) folded around the same period, replaced by promotion pathways.

The inaugural 2025 season featured three stages: Season Kickoff, Mid-Season, and Season Finals. It used a hybrid franchise model with initially four partner teams and four guests. CTBC Flying Oyster (CFO) dominated, winning all three titles. Format evolutions included adjustments to playoff series lengths and the introduction of championship points in 2026 for secondary international qualifications.

For 2026, the league reduced permanent partners to three after the removal of PSG Talon in November 2025 due to financial issues (player/staff payment delays). Ground Zero Gaming entered as a guest replacement. The season structure solidified into three named splits (Split 1, 2, and 3), with Split 3 adopting a Swiss-system regular stage for the first time. Guest teams face potential relegation via end-of-season promotion tournaments against winners from PCS, VCS, LJL, Oceanic Promotion Qualifier (OPQ), and Wild Card regions.

Carry International, a Taiwanese esports production and events company (official site: https://www.carry.live/), handles operational aspects including venue management for the dedicated LCP Arena (opened 2025) alongside Riot.

Format

The 2026 LCP season consists of three splits, each with its own regular stage and playoffs, awarding championship points and international berths.

For Split 3 2026 specifically (currently ongoing):

  • Swiss Stage: Eight teams compete in a Swiss-system tournament. Most matches are best-of-three (Bo3); qualification (to 3 wins) and elimination (to 3 losses) matches are best-of-five (Bo5). Special cross-bracket matches (e.g., 2-0 loser vs. 0-2 winner) influence progression. Top four teams (those reaching three wins) advance; seeding is finalized via additional Bo5 seeding matches. All matches use Fearless Draft.
  • Playoffs: Double-elimination Bo5 bracket among the top four. Winner and runner-up qualify directly for the 2026 World Championship. The third Worlds seed is determined by cumulative 2026 championship points among non-qualifiers.
  • Qualification: Fixed eight-team league (no open quals mid-season). Partners are locked; guests via prior performance/promotion.
  • Other rules: Side selection often via duos matches; coach communications allowed in some stages. Venue: LCP Arena, Taipei (offline); limited studio audience plus full streaming.

Earlier 2026 splits used single round-robin Bo3 regular seasons (top six to hybrid double-elim Bo5 playoffs). Championship points accumulate across splits for MSI second seed and Worlds third seed.

Promotion/relegation occurs post-season for the lowest championship-point guest teams against regional Tier 2 champions.

Notable Editions

The 2025 Season Kickoff marked the league’s debut, establishing CFO as the early powerhouse and generating strong regional interest with peaks over 260,000 viewers. The 2025 Mid-Season set the all-time LCP viewership record at 483,444 peak concurrent viewers, highlighting growing APAC engagement.

The 2025 Season Finals confirmed CFO’s three-peat and secured the region’s first Worlds representation under the new structure (CFO, Secret Whales, PSG Talon).

In 2026, Split 1 and Split 2 saw Team Secret Whales (TSW, Vietnam) rise to dominance, winning both titles over Deep Cross Gaming (DCG/Relove Deep Cross Gaming) and ending CFO’s streak. Split 3 2026 is notable for introducing the Swiss format, aiming for more competitive parity and excitement in the Worlds qualification race. As of the Swiss Stage close, TSW led undefeated at 3-0, with CFO and MVK Esports also strong; SoftBank HAWKS were eliminated early at 0-3.

Team changes, such as PSG Talon’s removal and Ground Zero’s entry, plus rebrands (MGN Vikings to MVK; DCG title sponsorship), added storylines.

Viewership & Impact

LCP viewership has shown strong regional growth mixed with fluctuations. The 2025 Mid-Season peak of 483,444 concurrent viewers remains the high-water mark and one of the stronger non-major-region figures, up significantly from earlier PCS/VCS eras and competitive with some LEC events. 2025 Kickoff reached ~261k peak; Finals ~273k. 2026 splits saw declines (Split 1: 143.5k peak / ~5.45M hours watched; Split 2: 173.6k peak / ~5M hours; Split 3 partial: ~95k peak / 1.87M hours so far), attributed partly to scheduling and competition from other regions, though still solid for APAC.

Broadcast partners center on official channels: Twitch (https://www.twitch.tv/lolpacificen, ~45k followers), YouTube (@lolpacificen, ~60k subscribers), with multi-language coverage (English, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Japanese, etc.), co-streamers, and integration via lolesports.com. Facebook (lolpacificen) and X/Twitter (@lolpacificen) support community engagement. Production is handled with Carry International expertise.

Culturally, the LCP has elevated APAC LoL by creating a unified high-level circuit, dedicated arena in Taipei, and clearer international pathways. It fosters cross-regional rivalries (Taiwan-Vietnam-Japan) and supports grassroots via Tier 2 promotions. As a key feeder to Worlds (typically 3 seeds, potentially more via MSI performance), it boosts the global competitiveness of Pacific talent. The hybrid franchise model balances stability and opportunity, contributing to the broader Riot esports ecosystem’s health in a diverse, multi-language market.
